The difference between nylon and polyester

Nylon is a synthetic fiber, a term for polyamide fiber nylon.

Polyester is polyester fiber, which is a synthetic fiber obtained by spinning polyester obtained by polycondensation of organic dibasic acid and dihydric alcohol, referred to as PET fiber, which belongs to polymer compound.

The difference between nylon and polyester is as follows:

(1) Appearance difference:

The gloss of nylon fabric is brighter and the hand feel is smoother. The appearance of polyester fabric is darker and rougher than nylon.

(2) Performance difference

Nylon generally has good elasticity, the dyeing temperature is 100 degrees, and it is dyed with neutral or acid dyes. The high temperature resistance is worse than that of polyester, but the strength is better and the pilling resistance is better.

The dyeing temperature of polyester is 130 degrees, and the hot-melt method is generally baked below 200 degrees. The main characteristics of polyester are better stability. Generally, adding a small amount of polyester to clothes can help wrinkle resistance and plasticity, but it is prone to static electricity and pilling.

(3) Combustion difference:

The combustion method can be used to distinguish nylon and polyester. Polyester emits a lot of black smoke after burning, while nylon emits white smoke. In addition, the residues of the two kinds of fabrics after burning are also different. Polyester fabrics will be crushed when squeezed, while nylon fabrics will become plastic.
