Why the Waiters Wear Hotel Gloves

When we are eating in the fancy resturant, the waiter usually wear the white gloves. Why are they wearing the gloves?

Because the reaturant want to give the customers the impression, that the returant is a decent one and it is more pleasing to see the waiters are in the uniform, even the hands are in the standard. Or it can make the waiter’s hand looks more clean and neat. However the surface of the gloves will keep more germs on it. Or if the waiter get their hand dirty, they can change the gloves immediately and they do not need to go to the bathroom to was their hands.

Most of these thoughts based on the idea, that the waiter want to maintain the cleanness and the neat, however the real reason is quite opposite.

At the end of the 19th century, in many taverns, women are not allowed to work in the attention position. Meanwhile, women are not trusted with the worker. So they were forced to wear the white gloves in case they dived their fingers in the food or the soup. If they do, their gloves would tell. It is quite rediculous, right? Cause following this logic, the waiter should wear the masks and glasses in case they can smell or see the food.

Nowadys, the reaturant ask the waiter to wear the gloves only brcuase it can offer the customer the visual esthetic enjoy.
